All three of these books are Classics. The joy of these classic stories is about sacrificing for love which is something that we all need to remember and understand. Empathy and resilience are part of life, and we need to know and understand how to not only survive but also how to embrace the hard parts of life.

Dandelions are one of my favorite books. I feel like Eve Bunting is a fantastic writer. This picture book brings emotions, history, and life back in the 1800s into something children can understand. There are so many points in this book that are great conversation starters.
I also picked Cindy Ellen…a fractured Fairy Tale is one of my favorite things to teach. Cindy Ellen is a fractured version of Cinderella. This is a fun way to show essential story elements and point of view using traditional stories they already love. This book is humorous, and my kiddos love all things cowboy or cowgirl :)
