Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium...Great Kids Weekend
Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium consists of an all-new 1.5-million-gallon aquarium adventure showcasing 35,000 live fish, mammals, reptiles and birds, and immersive wildlife galleries that bring visitors eye-to-eye with the greatest collection of record-setting game animals ever assembled. Located adjacent to Bass Pro Shops National Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, the 350,000-square foot experience celebrates people who hunt, fish, and act as stewards of the land and water.
We took the kids to the Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium this past weekend. It was AMAZING!! It was so exciting and educational, along with being relaxing. In the aquarium part, you feel like you are walking around in a giant fish tank. Water is my happy place, so what more can I ask for lol.
We took a weekend trip for 1 night, it was a perfect little getaway. We did the Aquarium part on Saturday, it took about 4-5 hours. The aquarium is seriously amazing. It is enormous and has so many different displays. It goes from salt water to fresh water, and there is even a swamp. In the end, we all petted the stingrays. The kids were really impressed with that. I don’t feel like pictures can give an accurate description of how great this place is. You can not use flash, and it is a little dark inside. I attached a few to give an idea.
The next day we did the Wildlife part, it took around 2 hours. The exhibits are incredible. All the habitats are 4D so when you walk in the climate and temperature changes making you feel like you are in the habitat. My son especially loved Africa because he studied and created an African Habitat last year in school. There are also penguins which are super cute to watch!
Springfield Mo is pretty central in the United States. If you are anywhere close and looking for a great place to take kids for the weekend, this is a great option!
